Born To Express Youself

So Lady Gaga released her latest single 'Born This Way' which you can hear below:

and of course all the Gaga 'Monsters' as her fans like to call themselves have gone bananas over the song, tweeting and posting like crazy.
Me?
meh. Not so much.

I, along with many other peoples on the interweb, happen to think the song has almost the exact same tune as Madonna's 'Express Yourself':

I mean, look at the titles of both songs:
Express Yourself.
Born This Way.
Aren't they both really just saying the same thing, that we are who we are (even Ke$ha is apparently in on it) and that we cannot change this, but instead we should just be free to be ourselves? Lady Gaga wasn't the first person to come up with this idea as many would like to believe.

Yes Lady Gaga uses the words 'gay', 'straight', 'bi', 'lesbian', and 'transgendered' within the song, something that no other artists of her level of fame has ever done, but in reality, the song has more of a dance feel to it than an actual soul-stirring, life affecting impact that we were expecting. (And Madonna's song was made during the 80's so she's forgiven). imjustsaying.

Clementine

So today is was procrastinating and for some reason i was Googling some old nursery rhymes and songs they made us sing back in primary school, like 10 years ago, and i came across that song 'Clementine'. i don't know if you remember it or if you know it but have you ever actually looked at how crazy the lyrics are?? For a nursery rhyme, it's pretty disturbing! Especially the last 3 versus (not including the chorus)

In a cavern, in a canyon
Excavating for a mine
Lived a miner forty-niner
And his daughter, Clementine
[Chorus]
Oh, my darling, oh, my darling
Oh, my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorry, Clementine

Light she was and like a fairy
And her shoes were number nine
Herring boxes without topses
Sandals were for Clementine
[Chorus]

Drove her ducklings to the water
Every morning just at nine
Hit her foot against a splinter
Fell into the foaming brine
[Chorus]

Ruby lips above the water
Blowing bubbles soft and fine
But alas, I was no swimmer
So I lost my Clementine
[Chorus]

Then the miner, forty-niner
Soon began to peak and pine
Thought he oughta join his daughter
Now he's with his Clementine
[Chorus]

There's a churchyard on the hillside
Where the flowers grow and twine
There grow roses, amongst the posies
Fertilized by Clementine
[Chorus]

In my dreams she still doth haunt me
Robed in garlands soaked in brine
Though in life I used to hug her
Now she's dead, I draw the line
[Chorus]

Now you scouts may learn the moral
Of this little tale of mine
Artificial respiration
Would have saved my Clementine
[Chorus]

How I missed her, how I missed her
How I missed my Clementine
Till I kissed her little sister
And forgot my Clementine
[Chorus]
Oh, my darling, oh, my darling
Oh, my darling Clementine
You are lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorry, Clementine

i mean. wtf.
for a child?
wtf.
